Livening up urban spaces.

Urban public space often integrates many layers, from history to the present. Sometimes they resonate with each other, sometimes they don't. However, both of these possibilities provide an opportunity for a knitted artistic intervention that is temporary and does not harm the environment in any way. Sometimes it happens that after uninstalling a knitted object, there may be a feeling that something is missing...

KLIMT, Prague

The Czech National Theatre commissioned me to create a knitted sculpture for the opening of their theatrical season. The sculpture would then remain in the square outside the theatre for the whole season. In total, four sculptures were created for four consecutive seasons.
A total of 4 knitted sculptures inspired by art were created. A painting by Klimt, Frida Kahlo, Marylin Monroe and Carmen.
REBIRTH is the original name of the bronze sculpture on the Piazzetta of the National Theatre in Prague. And yes, that is exactly what I wanted to do with my knitted sculptures, to give it a new live each time!

CARMEN

33 knitters from across the Czech Republic accepted the challenge and joined in knitting the dress for Carmen.

FRIDA

MARYLIN

Inspired by the famous scene from the movie The Seven Year Itch (1955)

WE KNIT THE CITY - TOGETHER
Uherské Hradiště

We refreshed the city of Uh. Hradiště, let young artists and the public create in the streets.
Together with students of the Secondary School of Applied Arts and students of the Fine Arts Department of the Elementary School of Art, we created almost FIFTY KNITTED OBJECTS.
We collected over 30 bags of knitted material in a public collection.
We had baskets with knitting for the public in selected cafes and the local library.

Projects in Nature

Nature, with its diversity, is one of my greatest inspirations. Recently, it has been possible to see some knitted species of local fauna by the ocean in Portugal, Sicily or Florida in the USA.

WOOLLYFISH, Portugal

The journey of rare Jellyfish WOOLLYFISH from the depths of the ocean to the mountain springs in the Serra de Arga mountain range.

GATOR, Miami, USA

The occurrence of alligators around Miami and Everglades National Park is quite common, some of them are also very curious...

HONEYCOMBS, Sicily

Several unusual honey combs were unexpectedly discovered near the city of Syracuse in Sicily. It turned out that they were created by Sicilian honey bees, APIS MELLIFERA SICILIANA, who can only be found on this island.

Knitted Art in Gallery and Library

In a gallery or library space, knitted objects can be more interactive with their audience. Some objects are created specifically for children and their play, while others count on the direct participation of visitors.
We can also work more with finer natural fibers or fix the shape with starch, because we don't have to worry about the weather.

GAME OF ANGELS

An interactive exhibition for the whole family.
For three years in a row during Advent you could hear the sound of angel’s whings. Growing every year, this traveling exhibition always involved local knitting communities. It invited visitors to play, try on costumes, embroider, read poems, try string art, write their wishes... and become an angel for a while.

THE LIFE OF A BUTTERFLY

A multicultural project created to support the integration of foreigners living in the Czech Republic. The selection of individual butterflies refers to the country of origin of the participants in our projects. 45 wonderful women and knitters cooperated with us.
